01/09 – Laz M. V. M.

I donate my dignity to a Savers Value Village.
Open my mouth wide when I am touched (so
often I no longer need to be asked.)
I will give it all to you baby, I will. I will.

I will if you let me. I am taught phrases like “if
you make it so.” Walk me back to bed
with your hand on the small of my back, threaded
between shirt and bra and skin.

And skin between home and head and
you. This room is built on ideas– this miserable
body. Your miserable hands on it. We
are searching, searching, searching.
