ALYOSHA, THE CHILD WITH THE IRON PACIFIER! – Binnaz Deniz Yildiz

Alyosha… The child with the iron pacifier!

How many wounds did your mother gather from the earth?

Every season, the birds died in a white shack

The Milky Way gathered on your lips, falling into the night!

The rocks in the water glanced off your eyes

An ancient grave bruised your wrist

Even before you were born in the cradle

Which civilization drew your image on the village walls ?

And pinned your photograph to the walnut trees?

Speak, Alyosha!

Which of your hairpins didn’t break in the drawers of your home?

Staircases, locked doors

The keystone wandering through the halls…

You opened your hands to the great temple

A teardrop fell upon your collar!

Oh Alyosha, the child with the iron pacifier!

They forgot you at the sound of a train whistle!

It wasn’t just you waving goodbye

But your wounded youth, forever trapped in the frame of that train window…
