Box Breather Squares Forever – Angela Yang

NOVEMBER ALL THE SAME

Noon’s gibberish arms taking hold.
Cool as a tire fire, you cup panic
to the up-above, watch it rise into cloud shapes.
You don’t have to say a word

THE REAL WISH RESERVES ITSELF

After the worst of the pour
leaves blinked brown all over.

What good does lying even do
when news gifts you the impossibility of its name.

Moon intact Some half-bitten pearl
Sad but silver and right there.

You randomly remember—
you don’t need respect.

Seventeen on the bedroom floor
White hair dark hair All yours

ACCIDENT REPAIR

Smirk emoji times ten
Re-reading Daniel’s poem
Who’s your “Her” little boy

Flabless arms overnight
Scout me at a park

Depuff my soul
Lick my fears into shape

Tell me what is good
and I’ll never do it

Come here animal family
I won’t hurt you
like the rest

There is no plot twist

CONFORMITY GATE

Put out my life
With holy water

Win the Lottery
By Shirley Jackson

Oxidised apple
With a 福 on it

Beautiful woman
Says excuse me

Box breather
Squares forever
