Click to see Memories – Jane Black

sometimes i find photos

of someone who’s not me

sun kissed hair and

a smile full of missing teeth

fingers twisting in grass at the ball park

finding nothing and catching nothing

and being happy for it

caught in the flash of a mother’s camera

embarrassed on the drive home

red eye but no evil there

no evil like the reflection in the glasses

of the girl in her computer chair

fourteen years old and in lingerie

for a man old enough to be her dad

i don’t have family photos

i don’t have a portrait from sears

my yearbook is a zip locked hard drive

in the bile of a federal building
