Crazy Calm – S.L Dear

On the surface of my epidermis, I am calm, silent and still.
Underneath my blood carries currents of waterlogged plasma.
Deeper still, the rare dopamine dragged to extinction.
LDL and HDL are in full supply, and rapidly breeding upstream.

On the surface, the mountain crown is calm, silent and still.
But buried deep, are screams and howls crushed.
Look close through the flashing filtered light; limbs broken
from weathering, strikes and gnarled with old age.

Nature photographed in black and white, captured, calm, silent and still.
Hidden white bones, dug up, carried in saliva, a water mucus mix.
Marrow gnawed and digested in traditional mammal violence.
Adrenaline, testosterone, cortisol, hop quick on long feet
never caught between hungry enamel.
