Full of Pleasure – nesty

portrait
A long term museum guard got sick and died of cancer around this time last year, he just dropped dead after standing in the same spot for seven years. A young boy hung a framed portrait of him onto a column in the entranceway of the gallery space and in it he was standing. It’s an odd placement sure, cause you actually have to stand with your back against the wall to take a good look at it. The dead man is beefy in the box of it, he barely fits into the frame. Something about his eyes is sardonic, deeply patriarchal, and perfect for portraiture, as if he’s looking down on us for all our inherent and collective voyeurism. After I went on my lunch break the portrait had been taken down and in its place were some sizable scars left behind as if by some fumbling and aggressive handler, like it had been torn off too viciously, and a woman stood there crying into the empty space of it
speakless
poor Veronika
she looks like a Balthus
with hair that spills out of her head like a water fountain, blooming bougainvillea, eyes radiant as angels
she takes her panties off near the mirror and touches her breasts to examine their smallness,
I’m so lucky she says,
with butterflies tattooed above her ass
lets order something
but theres wine in the fridge
i’m looking for words while she can turn a lamp off with a caress
and her face is full of pleasure
