Later that Night – Haseo of Birkini
September 20, 2025
At some point I felt like my legs could not carry me, the stick I held in my hand did not contribute any support to my legs. So, I increased my grip. Held on the stick and then pressed it into the loamy soil. It formed a circle. The circle went in. It went in deep. I had to release my grip, tighten my fist and pulled out the wooden stick. How am I meant to carry on, if every step just feels like it demanded more effort. My nine cows stood still. Mbuk moved its tail or wagged its tail. Ino scoffed. I stood there with my stick overhearing their interaction. They did not know I was in on it because I used a wide top hat to slowly cover my face and hide my egg eyes from them. Zarusla, the sentimentalist among them, came closer and leaned on my stick. My wooden stick I mean. So, I pulled out my left arm from my arm socket and used it to rub Zarusla’s white body. Zarusla nodded. A gentle breeze came into the picture, and it improved my frame of mind. Mbuk and Ino stopped communicating with each other. I think they may have suspected that they did not own their own frame, so they moved closer while bowing their heads and avoiding eye contact with my egg eyes. I am entirely forgiving and familiar with events of this kind. The lost coin. The lost sheep. The prodigal hippopotamus. The rich donkey and the poor 1984. Things within the frame lines. Clusters. I put blue gum around them and perpetually keep them from any sleep signals. My egg eyes miss my early morning antagonist, my goth water. But in the open fields with my twelve cows, first, who comes? After my Yodarian reflection, I look around. I spot a big tree beside me, thick big body, and many arms. I press my stick into the clayey soil and climb the top of the stick. I plucked some coloured leaves. I jumped down from the wooden stick. I placed the leaves at the center for my cows and I, Haseo, to fully observe it. As we looked at, a gentle breeze came in, it ruffled the other leaves that were still biologically attached to the tree. I paid attention to their conversation with Leonora. We gathered that they were pleased that chidi, mansi, baka, and co, the company I took, were notorious noise makers. This made me enjoy the breeze on my skin more. Mother hen and her chickens are fine with it. My cows and I rushed towards the center in competition for who could grab the most leaves. I was able to grab bokodu, chim chim, and dada with my wide basket mouth while Mbuk grabbed baka and chidi. I do not know who grabbed Mansi and who else were grabbed. We instantly moved our white buttons. I grinded it and pushed it down until I could speak without any muffled voice. I lay down on the sandy ground with the rest of the cows and we looked up at the moon. Then I heard a voice call me ‘Haseo, Haseo Haseo’ I stopped and looked around and I asked Zarusla, did you call me? Zarusla did not respond, Mbuk did not respond, Ino did not respond either. So, I knew it was not them. I moved my egg eyes towards the moon again. I heard my name being called. I immediately responded, speak for I could hear you. At some point, it felt like I was too light for the trampoline I was laying on. The trampoline swerved me to the edge; I almost fell out from the frame. I swallowed my saliva and grabbed my heart while redirecting the puppeteer’s rope to pull me towards the center. It could not hold. The center could not. Before I completed my statement, I was at the center with forty other gladiators. We each had a pair of spoons and were ordered to dig out all the sand until we could find pirates flags that had once been buried. I dug and dugged, made a burrow and went inside it. I found Ino and Mbuk together, but they shared one white body. They were now twins. Matching hooves. Hurray! Hallejuah! I had a handful of H’s to hatch and match. Like Christmas Hampers. It is not a pirate flag but at least it was my coin, my sheep, my prodigal nudibranch. What are you guys doing here? ‘Ino Mbuk’, now newly named, danced and brought out bokodu, chim chim and dada and then point to another area where Zarusla and Leonora were hiding. Please do not leave this spot, I will be back. It seems they are many mansions within this burrow. At some point I felt like the walls were closing in, my soles were sweaty, my heart and toes were heavy. So, I used both arms to support the wall. My hair was long and so I had all the strength I needed. As I entered into room on my right, I noticed that I was close to the edge of the trampoline once again. I was almost falling outside of the frame into the dark space surrounded by.
