manic wednesday – Honor Zetzer

Singing Manic Monday on a wednesday since it’s one of those jobs I’ve got with a monday tuesday weekend and so that’s where I’m driving to this wednesday AM. Singing Manic Monday and I’m way too young for this one to feel nostalgic it’s just that I was into the 80’s before it was cool and by that I mean I was weird in middle school and instead of soccer teams and movies I was living in the stuck-suburb daydream of Manhattan summer 1984 and New Order in my earbuds down the hall and all and so for me this whole 80’s revival thing happened a while ago and everyone’s just catching up to me now finally. I’m a trendsetter. I’m a go-getter. I’m a hard hitter. I’m not a quitter. I eat frozen TV dinners. I’m only friends with sinners. I’m pretty sure I qualify for food stamps but I’m not motivated enough to deal with the whole application thing in fact conservatives can shut the fuck up about people mooching on social services because anyone too lazy to work is also probably too lazy to deal with applying. It’s a fucking Manic Monday but I found a free parking spot so that’s on god.

Every two or three hours I feel it and I think that this time I’m really actually going to vomit and every time I feel really sure that it’s really going to happen and then I don’t. So I’m writing this poem. Plus not enough food in my stomach anyway cuz of all this tummy ache nonsense barely eaten since last week y’know so if I did manage to vomit it’d be the really unpleasant dry heave kind so I think so instead I’m writing this poem like I told you just now that I was doing.

I just wanna know why anyone ever says anything. I mean what are we trying to get out of all this talking? I mean what does it mean to exist and why do we keep doing it? Them’s the things I want answers for.

If us city folk could just speak with a few more freewheeling conjunctions and dropped endings, those rural folk’d startta see that we’re’n all jus poor folk all the same n’ all down with it and then class solidarity would sweep across the land!
Yeehaw.
