Martyr – Wally Wright
April 22, 2026
St. Peter slowly suffocated upside-down on a cross.
Agatha had her breasts cut off.
Bartholomew? Flayed.
John? Boiled in oil.
St. Lawrence, while roasting, joked, “Turn me over — I’m done on this side.”
But me?
I’d renounce
Christianity,
my country,
my mother
the minute I saw the pliers,
the first tug at a fingernail,
the moment they eyed my testicles.
Martyrdom
is not
for me.
