My Garage, My Video – Noam Hessler

It’s about living a life you didn’t want. It’s about taking.
When you drink — I take your life. Pass the weed-
Whacker, let me make a point. You lay
The whole thing on the table every night;
Same hodgepodged fur, same marrowbones-
All-black scooped out and this is what
You feed to the hawk. You feed the hawk this
Every day and it moans over it. So the mouse
Dies, is burnt and tortured each day. What difference
Then is the boiling iron talon or the revving the
Machine I rev. So a little mice in the blender
Is no jizzum on the face of G-d.
This is my sermon. Bright and numerous.
The river is a brown god,
The river is a brown fog
Hawks fleeing from its banks and the hawks
Crawl home to me. You crawl home to me.
I sputterate my utterance Houyhnhnm,
Let me clear the throat. You and I,
Concrete-floored jaws, the teeth
Without teeth. So you feel me eating you.
I woke up one day to a brown river flowing
One morning a fourth reich piled up
And I stood by the shores of my house on
The sands of the desert. I stood with my sandals on
And stretched in the desert of my cold shower.
I drowned her in my bathtub. I drown the mice
In the fumes of dry ice from the garage.
Let me kick I kick the can yes this is one of them. You are
At the mouth of the river, where you and I are given birth.
At the mouth of the river a rainbow sedimented
And sloughed the hard skin of the children, hippopotami
And I roughed my skin cuz this was poison you would’ve had
To have been there you know what I mean in a softer sense.
So anyhow just like I make the animals into paste I took
My body bathed in ointments tinctures injected uninjected things
And I became the wax lump around which is an agony of flame
That cannot singe a single waxen sleeve.
And I went out to the woman that I loved in my garage
And to the woman whose arms I had lain across my beak
And slit to reveal a thousand mice and sleepgas-hugging bears. And
You and I
Become a video. And in this way I have my power over you.
Which returns again I shuffle my feet, a raptor calls from
Just outside the earline, out of the garage to my implore,
Which is not a requests because requests
Strip off the layers of skin and what I ask of you
Is to harden yourself and make yourself a drinking cup now,
Drink.
