Nicholas Rall Reviews RedDawn Energy

The first school I ever went to was a 2001 RED Ford Explorer.

I was too young to be enrolled in public school, so I sat in the back of the vehicle looking out the window as my MoM and her friend  Sandy drove up and down thousands of hills selling little pills shaped like clouds to giant men, small men, and beautiful woman with receding hairlines.. anyone and everyone. They all wanted a bottle of clouds from Tammy and Sandy.

We lived in Sandy’s house, which clung to the middle of the steepest hill..

She took care of her grandmother, who lived in the basement and created all of the clouds.

Late at night, if I couldn’t sleep, I would go down to her living room and watch reruns of crazy bakery in her living room while she worked. She always made me a cup of tea that put me to sleep, and I would wake up back in my bedroom.

One day, the most significant order they had ever received came in. I had to lay on the floor of the explorer with hundreds of boxes packed tightly…but I loved it..I loved hiding in the mobile cave. It was the longest car ride I had ever been on.

It took a while for me to get out of the Explorer, but I heard my Mom and Sandy gasp as we pulled up. “It’s beautiful…it’s pretty, shiny,” they both said. When I was finally able to squeeze through an opening, I caught the tail end of a monumental negotiation. .

There was a giant cylinder in the middle of an empty field covered by a plastic blue tarp. In front of it was a makeshift meeting room. A folding table, where on one side sat My mom and Sandy and across from them sat three women wearing light red suits. They were all smiling, celebrating. The tallest one, seated in the middle, raised her hand in the air, snapped, and a kid about my age emerged from their vehicle, a black Sprinter van. He was wearing the same suit that the woman wore. He walked over to the cylinder and used all his strength to pull a cord.

The blue tarp ripped off the cylinder, almost taking the little boy with it, but he unfurled himself from its frenzy easily, as if he’d done it a thousand times before. I watched the tarp fly away beyond the treeline like an exotic dying bird.

When i looked back to the naked cylinder, I had to cover my eyes..the sun had come out in full force, and the glare that reflected from it almost stole my VISION..but then it passed, and in that lonely field stood a three story can of redbull.

“This is where you’ll come to re-up. The tower will always be in stock…always..no matter what….” explained the shortest woman. “Yes, one of our team members will be standing by if you have ANY questions…call this number..night .. or ….day.” explained the medium woman. She passed my mother a business card with a number on it. “But as detailed in the documents, revealing the tower’s location is a direct breach of contract, and we won’t hesitate to enact our emergency measures..” Explained the tallest of the women. “But that won’t be an issue….” she continued.

My mother and Sandy chugged various flavors of Red Bull on the 9-hour drive home. I laid on the floor listening to them talk in my little cave of canned energy.

The partnership quickly proved to be a success. Within just 2 weeks, Red Bull had taken over the city. We had already made two more trips back to the tower to re-up. My mother and Sandy started off by just giving Red Bull to their existing customer base. The clouds made people feel like they were in a dream, very internal, very far away. People loved the clouds but they slowed everything down and made it hard to live in real life. But the addition of redbull changed that. Internally, everything still felt like a dream, but their bodies moved in time with reality, FAST FAST……FAST.

One day I remember the three of us driving in the red Explorer…

We had just gotten back into the city, it was around 6:00 am….the sun was not even fully awake yet. I laid in my cave watching MY HUNGRY BUTTON on the redbull sponsored portable DVD player.…

NO NO NO …SANDY!!!!!

I heard my mom’s voice scream from up front, muffled and suffocated through thousands of cans.

Sandy stomped on the brakes, but it didn’t do much. The collision was still powerful enough to pull most the boxes right out of the windows..into the street…

I vaguely remember being inside the red explorer, its bumper clung to the edge of a massive yellow bridge..i held the steering wheel because everything was gone…the insides completely hollow. I heard people calling my name…LET GO LET GO…the river was covered in a big blanket of red bulls that my mom and Sandy floated on.I let go of the steering wheel and the next thing I remember is sitting in a plastic green folding chair in a brown hospital room.

My Mom and Sandy lay on beds that were taller than me…

Not long after i woke up, the door slammed open, a very tall doctor with a shaved head entered witha  clipboard strapped to his chest, behind him a group of younger doctor’s formed a circle..

“You know?” he said..as one of the younger doctor’s handed him a brown chair like mine…

“You two…i’ve been looking far and wide for you two…”

“Buh?” My Mom said. Just then, i noticed the machine between her and Sandy.

It hung by thick metal wires from the ceiling, a steel egg shaped  base with a digital screen in the center. On either side of the machine, plastic tubes shot out. The tubes flowed directly into Sandy and my mom’s necks.

“Thanks to you two, i had to have all these machines imported…HALF THE FUCKING CITY is hooked up to them right now…”

He had a very well-defined jawline, and he repeatedly punched the sharpest edge, just below his ear..

The circle of young doctors entered the room so that he was in the center…he kneeled down, disappeared. When he rose back up, he looked calmer and more gentle…

“But…if you guys tell us where you were getting all the redbull, I’m talking LOCATION LOCATION…then we’ll write off the visit… I’ll forget about it all…

Soon after they gave the doctor all of the information, i looked out the window of the hospital room and saw 6 all balck ambulances rush out of the parking lot.

A few days later, the doctor came back into the room and unhooked my mom and Sandy from the machine that was slowly extracting the redbull from them.

“Alright, ladies…you are free to go…all of the tests look okay…of course you both have some life-long damage from this level of consumption…but it will be manageable……” He flashed a smile that made the lights flicker, then continued…”It’s for the best… you did the right thing ….”

The room we had been in for the last week was quiet and calm..but as soon as we left, all I could hear were the sounds of people screaming and beeping machines…My mom and Sandy were tired and out of it…i held the hands and did my best to navigate out us out of the maze of the hospital…after what felt like another week we finally reached an exit, i thought it was morning time but when i pushed the doors open…faces of the night gloomed at me….like we were not supposed to be out there and i agreed with them and so did the bus, which happened to be driving towards us but stopped, opened up and let us.

The bus dropped us off at the bottom of the hill right in front of Sany’s grandmother’s house.

I was excited to see her and have some tea with her.

I made sure My mom and Sandy were comfortable…they both passed out as soon as their heads touched a pillow. I turned the TV on and opened the window…i made some popcorn and watched cheaters for a few minutes, but couldn’t fall asleep…so i decided to go downstairs to see if Sandy’s grandmother was awake and wanted to have some tea. She usually was, she watched old movies in black and white about tragic marriages and world events gone wrong.

I walked downstairs, I never knocked on the door…she always told me that if it was unlocked, that I was welcomed anytime..and not only was it unlocked but wide open…The same episode of Cheaters continued on…”Sarah… I think she’s cheating on me with the guy that cleans her mom’s pool…anytime we drive past a pool…she just gets so excited…I don’t know, man… i remember she had the same look in her eyes when she used to talk about us, but now it’s gone and it’s only there when she talks about the pool…”

I called her name when the show went to a commercial break, as i walked further into the living room, i thought i had somehow been transported to someone else’s house or maybe an office even…because everything was covered in paper…piles and piles stacked everywhere…the more i walked the more there it took over, plastered to the wall but it wasnt just blank white paper, it was thick, heavy official documentation. I picked up one of the packets and read through it….

This Agreement (00CC) is entered into as of 04/04/2004, by and between Red Bull North America, Inc. (“Company”) and Sandy F and Tammy R  (“Contractors”). By signing below, Contractors irrevocably commit to sell and promote Red Bull® products exclusively within the assigned territory, without deviation, delay, or competition. Furthermore, Contractors are strictly forbidden, under penalty of immediate legal action, from disclosing, discussing, or revealing in any form the origin, source, or distribution points of the Red Bull® products entrusted to them.

That was about the most i could understand, the contract went on in detail for about twenty pages…

I walked from the living room into the dining room, where Sandy’s grandmother’s workstation was set up. She had all sorts of strange machines made from glass and metal that she used to make the clouds for Mom and Sandy. I figured that’s where she was, she often got so focused that sounds bounced right off of her. I was sort of right…she was at her station but she was not working.

I finally found her lying down in  … a catastrophic mix of her instruments and crumbled contracts. She lay in the center…her eyes closed but her neck wide open, a long glass tube that i recognized was broken into a million pieces, hundreds of them stuck in her gentle face…while a sharp piece of it had been dragged across her neck. All of the contracts around her were a rusty brown color…

The only thing at her work station that wasn’t destroyed was her small night table to the right of her main work station, on top of it, a half-full cup of tea waited for her lips to return to its brim.

My Mom and Sandy agreed it was time to end their partnership. We moved out a few weeks later, and i never saw Sandy again.

It was the first week of Summer, we were no longer 5th graders, so we celebrated by staying up all night playing a modded version of Twilight on PS2 in Nesta’s room. We changed the story many times throughout the night. Sometimes, Edward and Bella never met, sometimes we had Jacob and Edward end up together. While his mom was at work, Nesta’s older sister Sativa was supposed to be watching us, but around 4:00 am, she came home with a friend.  She brought us Ice Dream and Doritos from Unimart to secure our silence. I had never seen her new friend before, he looked alot older than her because he had a beard tied up in a braid that hung down off of his chin but i could not really tell because he had the voice of a baby…” dang..you guys really like NO-fears..huh?” he pointed to the large family of empty cans scattered among us. Recently, “energy” drinks had begun to creep their way back onto store shelves but each 24 oz can only contained 30 mg of caffeine, even still…most stores refused to stock them but Jake had spent the day hitting every gas station he could think of to form an amazing a family of drinks for our sleep over…

Sativa’s new friend seemed cool…he ended up playing a few levels of Twilight with us while she watched from the couch. He explained that he was a traveling ferris wheel operator and he was renting his wheel to a church fair a few neighboorhoods away for the weekend ”Listen, you guys should stop by tomorrow…i’ve heard some rumors that there are some stronger drinks floating around here…seems like you boys could find me what i’m looking for?” He got up froom the floor, and walked over to the couch where Sativa had fallen asleep…he tapped her one the head…she stood up in a daze and clumsily directed them towards her room…”If you guys bring me something good, i’ll show you a shocking and unique surprise..” he said with a smile just as he shut her bed room door behind them.

We didn’t even bother sleeping that night. Jake drew out a map of all the gas stations & little small stores that he knew for sure had some no-fears…he assured us that he could one of them to point us in the direction of something stronger. Around 7:30, we went into the garage where our vehicles waited for us. The three of us shared two bikes and an old waterlogged skateboard..

As Usual, Nesta and Jake each rode the bikes. One was a little too short, the other just a bit too tall…but we all knew exactly how to adapt to each size at any given time. We tied a big, thick, rusty metal chain from the water treatment plant around the smaller bike so whoever was riding the skateboard could stay included in any conversation. When we stopped, we tied the chain around the bikes and boards so no one could take them from us.

We slowly checked off every stop on Jake’s list, but were having no luck…some of the clerks even seemed annoyed that he had come back so soon. One clerk, who ran a small “convenience store” out of a little converted apartment in a 14-floor complex, explained that  he had just got off the phone with the owner of a gas station we had stopped in an hour ago…”I just got a verbal warning about you shits…!” There were no other customers in the “store,” and it was the smallest one we had been in so far. The man was massive, about 3 times the size of the counter he blobbed behind,…I could not tell where any of his body parts began or ended, they all sort of congealed together….it felt like the man was the store… “Don’t even ask me….don’t even think about asking….” The more he talked, the more his strange body started to rattle.

We all looked at each other, not sure if  to laugh in his face or listen to the fear that was starting grow a little bit in our stomachs….”You boys think this is anything close to funny…? Business is like  family  to anyone who takes it serious and i aint got no fucking family…so you can guess what i consider the love of my life…” His face was getting reddish and all of the imperfections grew twice the size, the dents deepened, and the area around his eyes had taken a purple hue…

“Shut up faggot…” Nesta said, and the man howled, he shook, the room rumbled so much I thought he was gonna separate from the building entirely, and that we might be stuck inside him forever. We bolted down all 14 flights of steps, gliding… giggling like crazy. We untangled the bikes from the chain. Soon, Nesta Jake, I were sailing away from the towering apartment complex…

I called out their names and threw them some extra-sized candy bars that had slipped into my pockets…I threw them high into the air with my free hand while the other was lovingly strangled by our chain… “Catch!” They each raised their hands, their candy bars falling right in place…

…We stopped at a park at the bottom of a very steep hill to catch our breath and drink from the water fountain. “I’m really really sorry, guys…” Jake continued…”I didn’t think everyone would be so mean…”  “It’s fine, man…it’s not your fault…” we assured him. He smiled and pulled the map back out…”Okay, well, we got one more chance…”

We had to leave the bikes and skateboards at the edge of the woods…all the wheels kept getting stuck in great big globs of mud, but after only a little bit of walking, we heard some little kids laughing and playing..swarms of them. “Luuuunch time…” all of the kids rushed to the voice, so we copied them. I was thinking maybe Jake had messed up and took us to the wrong spot by accident, but no…soon enough we all saw the last gas station…at the edge of a lake that i heard had dried up along time ago…but was now full and deep…stood 5 chicken hoops all atcked atop eahcother. 3 Bright red gas pumps lined the docks, and i could see a few different boats floating down the river, lazily hunting fish.

A woman with curly red hair stepped out onto the dock…she rocked three babies in her arms while one crawled up her leg and another clung around her shoulders…in her free hand, she held a pan that was sizzling butter; it smelled amazing.

She smiled at us and asked if we were hungry.

We sat down at a picnic table, and the woman brought out a plate stacked with grilled cheese…

“Well, they aint gonna eat themselves!” she explained to us…”Unless they started to… wouldn’t that be something…” She laughed…”Oh and my name’s Triple Red…”

We introduced ourselves and soon Jake pulled out the map to explain what we were looking for.  She looked down the lake, thinking…then after a while replied…”I’d love to help you boys, but I don’t often keep stuff like that in stock…I’m guessing soda won’t do the trick?” We all shook our heads…”hmmmmh….I think I have an idea..” She whistled, all 30 of the kids froze, then looked at their mother…OMAL…she called out, and within a few seconds, the water rippled and all the kids climbed back onto the dock…suddenly a big pontoon boat appeared, a 5-year-old boy wearing a blue bandanna around his wild red hair was operating it…Triple Red waved him over, and he docked right next to us.

“Sweetie, would you mind taking these boys over to B & T’s ?”….

”No mama… I’ll take em…” She threw him a sandwich, he caught it, smiled, and honked the horn..

We climbed in and he sailed down the lake….Triple Red and all of her kids stood on the dock, waving bye..

25 minutes later, we arrived at a new dock…” Walk right up…they’ll be home,” Omal explained..

Instead of a stone or gravel path, the trail leading up to the house was made up of thousands of crushed cans, many seemed 50 years or older, and just as many were brands I’d seen neither before or since. The trail led directly to the massive front doors, which looked like they belonged to an ancient church. The doors were open wide, and the cans continued up the stairs of the gorgeous, 3-story home…everything was handmade from a rare white wood. A massive television in the living room played reruns of The Rifleman in such high definition that I felt like Chuck Connors and Johnny Crawford were gonna yell at us for just strolling into a stranger’s house. We looked around at the house, but didn’t touch, didn’t snoop…it was so beautiful and extremely well kept. Even the trail of cans, upon a closer look, where all cleaned and buffed of any rough edges so they curved exactly with the path.

When we finally reached the end of the cans. Two women’s arms hung from a caramel brown recliners watching the same feed of the rifleman that played downstairs, but instead of a big, chunky TV…it played on a massive aquarium spread across the whole wall..i wasn’t sure if they had noticed us until one of them spoke…’ I’m belly,” said the voice on the right, without turning around…”I’m Tummy..” the voice on the left followed. “Triple Red sent ya, huh?”  they asked in unison as they both suddenly sprang from their recliners, twisting directions in midair…

“Follow us..” Instructed Tummy, and we did. They led us to the end of a long hallway where packed into a large elevator. They shared the same mannerisms and face but had wildly different postures and haircuts…I assumed they were sisters, but we never found out for sure….

When the elevator opened up, my teeth began to chatter…”Sorry about that …” Tummy said..

“Would you boys maybe want a robe…?” I shook my head, “no thank you…”

Jake asked if he could have one. He had taken his shirt off at the park earlier and left it there. Belly pressed a  blank button next to all the numbered buttons, a box fell from the ceiling. She caught it and handed it to Jake, he opened it and put on the fresh robe.

“We have to keep it ALMOST freezing in here, it helps control everything better….it’s just a lot harder when we don’t have control of the temp… “ Belly explained.

She began to frown, so much that it looked like it could morph into a cry …

“No no…but remember…we have precise control of the temp now, bel..” Tummy reminded her…

“Oh gosh…what am I even getting worked up about… everything is okay now…what am i thinking?” Belly replied, the frown had bounced into a modest smile… and led us out of the elevator..

In front of us were endless aisles of cans. I recognized some from the trail, but now they were in their true..purest form.

“So, you boys were looking for something strong?” Belly asked us..leading us down the aisle illuminated only by baby blue lights installed directly into the shelving.

“You guys are in luck, seriously….luck must be running through each of your veins as we speak!” Tummy explained as we reached another door, Belly entered a 15-digit passcode. Loud gears turned inside, then it opened.

This room was much brighter, almost like a doctor’s office. In the corner, there was a metal desk covered with all sorts of glass and metal machines, measuring cups, and notes. I walked closer to the desk. Besides the familiar tubes of glass and metal, there were pictures of things I thought only lived in my head, but no…old and tattered photographs of the redbull that I used to sit next to on long car rides. Security camera pictures of my mom, Sandy, and me carrying boxes. There were also pictures of the little clouds with red question marks written all over it.

My heart tried to hide deep in my body, into a place it had never even thought about visiting…running down into my kneecap.

Belly joined me at the tables…

“We have poured millions into this…trying to recreate something that people say never even existed in the first place…” She shook her head, grabbed all of the documents and shuffled them into a neat pile. “Yeah…” Tummy took over…” You three are far too young to remember but…our area is  “allegedly” the point of origin to one of the most sought-after recipes of energy ever made.. We’ve gotten close in duplicating it, but we are not sure how the public will react…”  Belly walked over to the other side of the room, she dialed another 15-digit code into a heavy-duty combination safe and fridge. 30 seconds later…”WOOOSH”

It opened, and a thick layer of fog poured out. “We actually think, you boys could help us with that…” Tummy tilted her head towards the SafeFridge, the three of us followed…hundreds of familiar-looking cans rested inside the fridge. “Be right back..” Belly announced as she walked out of the lab.

The cans were the exact size, and the selection of colors was the same as the redbull that my Mom and Sandy had been contracted to sell. The only difference was that instead of two bulls smashing their head together in the center, these cans all had a white cloud, and inside the cloud in bold, italicized lettering was RB2.

Belly returned with two giant leather duffel bags, and the two women began to fill them with the RB2.

“We’d like you boys to be introduce this new incarnation on our behalf…” Tummy said as she bent down, filling the bags…”

“Exactly,” Belly agreed…”It should be natural…there is no time constraints…and you will not have to do anything but give them out,,, it’s okay if it takes you a year to get rid of it all…give them to you friends, whoever you want…and we’ll keep track of the results from…right here!”

“Thank you so much..wow…” or a small variation poured from the three of us.

…I don’t mean to be rude…but what time is it?” I blurted out, suddenly it struck me that I could not remember the last time I had seen a clock. Tummy grabbed Belly’s left arm… inspected her watch…”It’s 7:30…” Time was running out…the fair ended at 8:00….The three of our faces each became possessed by stress and disappointment…”no no no…gotta be somewhere by …let me guess…eight o’clock? Don’t you worry… follow us.” Belly said with a hopeful smile.

She and Tummy each picked up a duffle bag and once we were out of the lab, sprinted through the aisles back to the elevator where Belly slammed her thumb on the G button…

They threw the bags in the bed of an old green pick-up truck, Tummy started the engine, and it hummed to life. Belly pushed the passenger seat down so we could climb into the back. Tummy stopped at the edge of the forest where we had to abandon the bikes and the skateboard. Belly hopped out and gently placed them in the bed of the truck with the duffle bags. If 8:00 wasn’t rapidly approaching, we would have probably all talked a little bit on that car ride, but Tummy explained that in order to get us there in time, she had to listen to her favorite song as loud as possible…”is that okay?”

Of course, we all said, and for the rest of the ride, we listened to music that sounded like a computer was in love with a building made out of wood that was burning in front of its eyes forever, but there was nothing she could do about it because she was just a computer.

Tummy and Belly dropped us off in the church parking lot. As we were waving goodbye, Nesta pointed to the vastness of the parking lot, the emptiness…”noooooo” we all said out loud as we walked around trying to make sure the Ferris wheel wasn’t hiding behind a building.

“You sure we’re at the right place?” Jake asked….” Yup…this is it for sure…ST PiUs X…My grandma does bingo here …shiiiit”  replied Nesta. The only signs that the fair had even taken place was a shadow scent of various fried foods and popcorn lingering in the air.

NO games…NO kids running around while parents shopped at the open-air flea market, and worst of all…? NO ferris wheel.  The sound of an organ drifted out of the church, so we rode across the parking lot to find the doors wide open. I poked my head in to see about  70 people in the pews quietly waiting for a special evening service. We left the bikes and board near the entrance, we brought the duffle bags in. Just as Jake, Nesta, and I began passing out the RB2, A very old woman slid out of the aisle and walked up to the center of the church. She began singing high-pitched tones that contrasted beautifully with the deep and powerful sounds of the organ.  We went up and down the rows until both duffle bags were completely empty, although we did each keep one RB2 for ourselves. It was pitch black outside when we walked back out.  As I untied the chain from the bikes, a blindingly shiny black Ford Explorer with heavy-duty off-road tires drifted into the parking lot.  The back door opened to reveal an extremely tall man in a long black robe, black leather clothes, and a strange hat that looked like something only a wealthy pilgrim would own. He gently closed the door behind him…walked toward the church…then turned around and nodded at the driver…who immediately did one donut in the parking lot before speeding off into the night. The man didn’t look our way at all. As soon as he walked through the doors…the woman who was  singing stopped and the heavy doors SLAMMED shut behind him.

When we got back to Nesta’s house, we found Sativa crying alone on the living room couch…

Her boyfriend had to leave town for good. She explained how there had been an accident at the fair, but when we asked what kind of accident, she just cried harder and harder until she fell asleep. Nesta and Jake played PS2 for the rest of the night. Around 2:00 am, I decided to walk home.

I held the RB2 in my hands like a baby, looking at it under the glow of street lamps whose bulbs were on the edge of burning out…hoping they would all go out at the same time, only to come back on seconds later to reveal a real redbull in my hands…

By the end of that summer, a judge ordered that I would be sent away to live with people who specialized in taking care of children. They did a good job, I slept soundly every night and ate 3 powerful meals a day, and then  8 years later, I was allowed to leave. I had been sending letters to my Dad for the past few years. He had just purchased a new type of machine that could create a new, instructable type of concrete… In his letters, he explained that he was doing really well, he suggested that I come work for him and live with him…

“I think this machine will last forever, Nickel, I want you to learn how to use it…so you have something forever….it can be yours one day…I promise..” His last letter read.

Things fell into place easily and quickly. I moved into his house, which was a massive 4-story warehouse that held all his tools. The new concrete machine and its various auxiliary components occupied an entire level alone.

It was also a sort of personal gallery that held all of the massive concrete sculptures he had made over the years. But he didn’t consider any of them fine, untouchable objects of art. They were functional, for example…a giant concrete sunflower was sculpted in a way that it also served as an alternative route to the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors.

My Dad was well known as a sort of concrete whisperer…he would get called to look at a project that most would deem unsalvagable… incapable of even being demolished…forced to rot in place forever, but my Dad was able to radiate sympathy with the old broken concrete. When his calloused fingers touched the neglected concrete…it was able to let go of what it had been…accept what it’s become and trust my Dad to shape it into what it could be again…

A lot of the guys who worked for my Dad also stayed at the warehouse. When my Dad got out of Prison, he started going to NA meetings every night, which he credits to much of his success…most of the guys he hires, he meets there…sometimes they were just chewed up and freshly spit out of a bad situation, so the warehouse became home for a lot of people trying to start over…

We left the warehouse every morning at 5:30 sharp in the massive red dump truck, which had JUST4TODAY stenciled in cursive writing on each side of it.

The dump truck stopped at the gas station every morning. They had changed so much since I had left. Gas stations were the new malls, high tech, and the place where everyone got together…it was so strange at first, but eventually I got used to it and grew to appreciate the early morning stops.

My Dad’s crew each had their own special order they repeated every single morning.

My Dad always made himself a large coffee with caramel drizzled over whipped cream, hot, always hot…no matter what it felt like outside.

Big Will always got 2 plain jumbo hotdogs and a diet Mountain Dew..

Devon, who was only a few years older than me, was an energy drink expert.

He explained to me that after the hospital was demolished, energy drinks had made a powerful return and were a sensation, new brands and flavors were popping up almost daily, and he liked to try them all…Once I asked him if they had redbull…he looked at me like I had just stitched random two words just to confuse him ”Nah man…never heard of that one…”

I trusted him because he used to be a dirtbike champion. For the most part he was usually disappointed with the effects of the energy drinks because “They don’t feel like winning the fucking race…”

But that changed one morning in early July. The shelf that contained Energy drinks, supplements, and fat burners that Devon had already deemed disappointing was overhauled.

A brand new shelf made from BLACK stainless steel stood in its place.  it looked like a prop from an expensive movie. It had Red lights inside of it that softly glowed, pulling you to it…

Small but high-quality speakers were built in that played triumphant music when you put your hand in the display. The products, little shots that looked like 5-hour energy, were standing proudly behind a thick sheet of glass. When I tried to reach in and grab one, a horrible sound emitted from the display as a …a small monitor emerged from the machine that instructed me to WATCH FIRST…then a countdown began…7..6…5..4..3….1…A flash of  RED dissolved to reveal a bald man on a mountain with nothing around him but a small gymnastics set, monkey bars and a free standing punching bag…he did a set of pull ups, and pushed off into a twist that landed him right in front of the camera…he caught his breathe, his eyes were locked in on the camera…his eyes transcend the camera…I could feel him staring right into me in the middle of the gas station at 5:45 am on a Tuesday…

His voice was soft and honest but he was able to powerfully project it through the vastness of the mountains…

“I was born with a rare congenital disorder that doctors were convinced would dictate the outcome of my entire life. In a sense, they were right, though not in the way they expected.

Throughout my childhood, I was told what I couldn’t do. I’d never be normal, they told me, I’d never have the mental capacity of my peers, I’d never compete in sports, I’d never have a family, I’d probably never live to see adulthood. I didn’t like being told what I wouldn’t do.

At a very young age, I decided that my destiny was mine and mine alone. No one was going to dictate my limitations, no matter the letters behind their name or how pristine their lab coat. I began pushing myself, both physically and mentally, daily stretching the boundaries of my limitations and reaching beyond. It was exhausting but exhilarating.

In the process, I became obsessed with nutrition and the effect it had on the mind and body. Years ago, I encountered a product that showed me the potential that lay dormant inside me… two women, who now seem like they were nothing more than fragments of a dream saved my life.

At the time, it was a huge loss to me that they vanished along with their product but if they were still meeting me weekly in my parking lot of my half bedroom apartment then i’m not sure i would have began developing my own regimen that would provide me the energy and mental clarity to get me through each day a little more successful than the day before. ..

It wasn’t just energy that interested me; it was synergy. The ingredients I used may have shown up in hundreds of health products before, but I was using them in a new way, combining them to enhance and empower one another to the point where the sum became greater than the whole. I wanted a big picture solution, products that would bring a competitive edge to the mind AND body. I got what I wanted, knowing it would work, because it worked for me… and I know deep within every fiber of my soul that it will work for YOU…”

He stopped talking, but continued to look in to the camera, eventually his bod was consumed by a dep bright red..a glow that stood in his place on the mountain slowly grew into the letter R..which was then followed by E..unti RED DAWN was spelled out…floating between the ancient mountains…

The video ended, and the glass lifted, and I was finally able to grab one of the RedDawns.

My dad and Big Will were already in line..Devon had just finished watching the video…

I paid 6.55 for the Red Dawn, then put it in my pocket where I could feel a subtle red glow warming my thigh…

The Big Red Dump squeezed through slits of streets, dissolving into the city…getting to work.

That morning changed everything for me. I found the hidden key that i didn’t even know was missing..but the hilarious part is..? It was right in front of my mouth my whole life… all thanks to Jermey for having the courage to do what I never even dreamed of.  Everything made sense NOW.

…i’m a new person with the life that was always wanting form me…but locked, a gray shifting shadow i could never hold…never see in focus for more than a few seconds..it never even really bothered me, i thought it was just a cute little day dream…until i took the first sip of RED DAWN…and instantly it colored everything…switched teh shifty shadows into clear, high definition that i could walk right up to..lick, taste, hold…i could do anything.

I know so many people out there are hurting and they don’t even know it…they are chained down by a vague outline of a pain they might not even know is wrapping itself around them….suffocating their mind and body. When God made us, he left room for ingenuity…

We may have been made perfect at the time of creation, but…times changed, and our bodies and minds have had a hard time catching up…and that’s okay…nothing to feel guilty about..

We should be taking advantage of every possible solution to be the true version of ourselves, and I can proudly say…thanks to Jermey Nichols, CEO…I am able to be in my fullest form..

Equipped to consume all of the challenges presented by the 21st century and beyond.

Red Dawn is available in a wide variety of locations across the planet, but if you find yourself in the unfortunate location that isn’t carrying the product..I urge you to contact REDDAWN  directly…you will speak with an operator who will connect you with the nearest retailer, or they will ship directly to your door…what are you doing right now? I bet you have a few extra minutes to call… I’ve had some of the best conversations of my life thanks to the following number..
