You know what you’ve felt
and now you have
nothing but withdrawal,
now that the other shoe
has dropped –
the moment that you
suspected might be about
to rear its ugly head in your
perceived romanticism
has landed and
you welcome
those blues back again
like an old friend –
knowing that someone
made a fool out of you again,
as you let love in and
put down the loaded gun,
thinking of all those
others that you couldn’t
live without before
and yet incredibly
you then realise that
between all of this noise
that’s exactly
what you did,
my friend.
