Starcounting – Laz M.V.M.
January 1, 2026
When I was younger, I dreamed I could
get a degree in star-counting and
live far away from everyone. The
doctors and the teachers couldn’t find
me, so I’d write home to them and say:
there are so many
glimmering things
and i’ll work until
i make them seen
on my paper
They’d feel proud to know a star-counter
And I’d name the brightest after them.
I’d remember every single name,
in this way I’d cure their diseases.
When the letters stop I’ll write again:
i’ve named all the stars
the sky will shift
and fall to the lake
i’ll start again
you know i will
