Submissions/Queries

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

EDITORIAL GUIDELINES UNTO THE AGES OF AGES: To submit literature is to render offering to the Lord to be considered according to our best human judgment under God. In humility, by means befitting righteous discernment of virtue and supernatural clarity with respect to what is pleasing in the sight of the Supreme Good, we fully commend our trust to the Holy Spirit. Receiving our mandate to judge and publish literature with solemnity, gravity, prudence and provident rigor, we seek illumination, viz. of intellectual, moral, and/or social value intelligibly oriented to truth ordered to the salvation of souls. Works disdainful of grace and/or the Deposit of Faith are incompatible with the spirit of the publication, while works insufficiently oriented to faith, hope, and charity may be judged inferior or inadequate, or may not be considered at all. We reserve the right to publish submissions without communication (acceptance or rejection letters are not guaranteed). Please include your Twitter/X handle (@etc.) to be tagged.

No simultaneous submissions. Retractions after publication are up to the discretion of the editor.

Work published during the DON’T SUBMIT! guest editorship period, between September 15th, 2025 and February 6th, 2026, is eligible to be selected for publication in possible print anthologies.

What We’re Looking For: Literature. Fiction, poetry, essays, etc. No word limit. Please submit the body of the text in the form below. Please indicate if there are formatting or stylistic choices in your piece that cannot be faithfully rendered in the submission box. In such case, if accepted, we will reach out and they can be attached in a word document. We are only reviewing the submissions for content, not aesthetic. Please do not pitch us your piece. Please only send one submission at a time. We do our best to respond to each submission. However, due to high volumes, we sometimes fall short of that goal. If you haven’t seen your submission published or heard back in 1 month, you may consider it rejected and submit again. Please title your submission. For multiple poems or stories, please include an all-encompassing header title to avoid the dreaded and nondescript “four poems” or “five stories.” If omitted, reasonable effort may be made to contact the author for this information, or a title may be selected for you, or your work may be featured as untitled.

For prompt responses to order queries, please feel free to email ExpatLitJ@gmail.com.

We are not presently accepting long form manuscripts for print publication or queries of that nature.
