The World is the Garment of the Living God: Fulfilled the Easter Promise – Manuel Marrero

“Human, we are sick. That’s why cross.” —Japanese confessor to a non-Japanese speaking penitent, as seen on TikTok.

I was briefly engaged in January. God tolerated it so I could learn He tastes better than skinny feels. A foretaste of heaven, ecstatic peace in contemplation, beatitude in eternal life, where Jesus is the center of all reality. Whenever I’m tempted by sin, I reflexively weigh it against the possibility of eating God, the daily bread— of reception of the host of the body and blood of our savior at tomorrow’s mass.

Dead to sin, everything is made of love.

How eternalism works is you’re either crucifying Christ forever or being crucified with Him. I have been inhabiting the liturgy while living it.

Lady Day, when light entered the world and defeated evil definitively.

God tolerates. He permitted both the angelic rebellion and the temptation in Eden, though he is not understood to be the author of evil and is only capable of good. God permits free creatures to misuse their freedom. He permits corruption to bear fruit. This is all for the sake of love, which can’t exist without freedom.

In Genesis, before the Fall, before sin entered the world through the enemy of salvation in the garden, God said “Be fruitful and multiply.”

Procreation and embodied union belonged to creation as good, before God allowed the fruits of corruption to be harvested in entropy. The punishment is not sexuality itself, but the rupture of harmony within human nature. Before the Fall, Adam and Eve had sexual desire fully integrated with reason and love, without shame, without domination or objectification, without the inner pull against oneself humans now experience. “And the man and his wife were both naked, and were not ashamed.”

In a similar way with work, Adam is placed in the garden “to till it and keep it.”

The curse is that labor becomes exhausting, resistant, anxious, and tied to death: “In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread.”

Work existed before the Fall. Toil is the distortion. Sexual union existed; concupiscence is the distortion.

“Your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you.”

Tension and imbalance became the human condition, imperfect and subject to materially cooperating with something flawed, prudentially tolerating imperfect conditions— structural sin. Working in a fallen system is permissible as long as not directly willing evil itself. Temptation emerged to reduce the other to an object of use. Instability of possession and domination. Instead of transparent mutual self-gift, integration of human faculties is gone. Paul expresses this in Romans: “For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I do.” and “I see in my members another law at war with the law in my mind.” When the lower appetites resist rational governance, original justice is lost, and the state of innocence is distorted by the effects of sin. The passions still exist and are naturally good, but they no longer remain perfectly ordered under reason.

God is order. Satan is disorder. Spiritual combat. The body was once subject to the soul. Relative to humanity.

To discipline the passions and bind lust for domination requires supernatural gifts. We must be interiorly apostolic for the spiritual fitness to receive grace and transmogrify our appetites from living in shallow unreality to deep metaphysical reality and be worthy of the humble fiat of charism, vocation, and ministry aka apostolate. (If we don’t metabolize grace we are dead inside.)

Not just holy priests, but holy laity. Saints. We need lay Catholic witnesses. Like Catherine of Siena, Bartolo Longo, and Pier Giorgio Frassati. This love is enduring. The spirit of the world and the air have nothing on you. Back to your cloister, the enclosure which corresponds to the deepest truth of your life, fine fingered and particularized or open, domestic; where do you feel held? There lies the profoundest sanctification. There are no bloodless paths. Only loss you can live fruitfully inside without diverting your deepest, most fundamental orientation toward God, defending Catholic culture on the vanguard, active participants in the sanctification of the world through the salvation of souls, providing “the witness of an evangelical life in contrast to all forms of materialism.” (Apostolicam actuositatem 6, 31A)

Obedience and love cannot be coerced, but the language of love is sacrifice. A sacrificial act of redemption. Devotion. The Cross. Only God can redeem the abject rock bottom victim soul. Catholicity means according to the whole, or complete. It means integrity. Fullness of doctrine and sacramental life. By entering into suffering through Christ, God does not merely allow it from a distance. “O happy fault, that earned for us so great, so glorious a Redeemer!” Direct questions do not resolve the deepest mystery.

“I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.”

Holiness, the Spirit of truth, let it come into you. Unite yourself to his Passion. The alpha and omega. His death was death to sin, his life is life for God. Dead to sin but alive for God, the Spirit of truth will come and shelter you. Know of my prayers for this. When Solomon’s heart is divided, watch the fold. Feed the sheep. A madcap mandatum. Apophaticism or negative theology is what God is not. More easy to glimpse that which is not observable. A pneuma, the Paschal structure, an axial configuration of loving, spirating, theological nuance and logic-light enters darkness at the annunciation of consolation, personhood a holocaust on the altar. Elective reproductive healthcare for little persons we decided it was acceptable to kill. Egregious industry, unchastity a culture of child sacrifice and death. Glorious bodily resurrection only for the strong in Spirit. All body no spirit no ticket.

“The word of the Lord came to me, saying: Son of man, when the house of Israel lived in their land, they defiled it by their conduct and deeds. Therefore I poured out my fury upon them because of the blood that they poured out on the ground, and because they defiled it with idols. I scattered them among the nations, dispersing them over foreign lands; according to their conduct and deeds I judged them. But when they came among the nations wherever they came, they served to profane my holy name, because it was said of them: “These are the people of the Lord, yet they had to leave their land.” So I have relented because of my holy name which the house of Israel profaned among the nations where they came. Therefore say to the house of Israel: Thus says the Lord God: Not for your sakes do I act, house of Israel, but for the sake of my holy name, which you profaned among the nations to which you came. I will prove the holiness of my great name, profaned among the nations, in whose midst you have profaned it. Thus the nations shall know that I am the Lord God, when in their sight I prove my holiness through you. For I will take you away from among the nations, gather you from all the foreign lands, and bring you back to your own land. I will sprinkle clean water upon you to cleanse you from all your impurities, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. I will give you a new heart and place a new spirit within you, taking from your bodies your stony hearts and giving you natural hearts. I will put my spirit within you and make you live by my statutes, careful to observe my decrees. You shall live in the land I gave your fathers; you shall be my people, and I will be your God.”

One has to hold to the real distinction between potency and act. God is pure act, so His existence and essence are identical. God’s existence is not limited by any potentiality, by any particular essence. The angels are not limited as we are by matter, but their existence is limited by their essence, so they are composite beings albeit not bodily. Essence is to existence as potentiality is to actuality. For man and all physical beings, matter individuates form. But the form of the human person is the spiritual immortal soul.

“The one who has become your husband is your Maker; his name is the Lord of hosts; your redeemer is the Holy One of Israel, called God of all the earth. The Lord calls you back, like a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit, a wife married in youth and then cast off, says your God. For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with great tenderness I will take you back. In an outburst of wrath, for a moment I hid my face from you; but with enduring love I take pity on you, says the Lord, your redeemer. This is for me like the days of Noah, when I swore that the waters of Noah should never again deluge the earth; so I have sworn not to be angry with you, or to rebuke you. Though the mountains leave their place and the hills be shaken, my love shall never leave you nor my covenant of peace be shaken, says the Lord, who has mercy on you. O afflicted one, storm-battered and unconsoled, I lay your pavements in carnelians, and your foundations in sapphires; I will make your battlements of rubies, your gates of carbuncles, and all your walls of precious stones. All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children. In justice shall you be established, far from the fear of oppression, where destruction cannot come near you.”

The flesh does nothing for me anymore. It does not satiate the touch-starved soul. The transubstantial daily bread of eternal life, however, fortifies. Like raining heavenly manna in the wilderness, it’s not about how it makes me feel. It’s about the Lord One in Three, in oneness and threeness, supersubstantial grace for the soul, divine nourishment. Coming back to life, a Trinitarian society of different personalities with one divine nature, coeternal with emanation for the fuller consummation of praising God. Divine Wisdom offered himself for this communion. Because God is closer to us than we are to ourselves.

The Song of Songs is a love story between the soul and God. Love requires real freedom, and real freedom includes the possibility of refusal. In Catholic theology, especially in Thomistic and Augustinian theology, concupiscence means the tendency of the passions to resist reason. A punishment for the Fall.

“Since grace does not destroy nature but perfects it, natural reason should minister to faith as the natural bent of the will ministers to charity.” – St. Thomas Aquinas, Summa Theologiae, I, q.1, a.8, ad 2

Catholicism is insane. Believing God became a human baby and then allowed Himself to be abused and crucified and that he also becomes pieces of bread is crazy. It’s still the truth though. Truth is stranger than fiction as they say.

“I speak this in the world so that they may share my joy completely. I gave them your word, and the world hated them, because they do not belong to the world any more than I belong to the world. I do not ask that you take them out of the world but that you keep them from the Evil One. They do not belong to the world any more than I belong to the world. Consecrate them in the truth. Your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I sent them into the world. And I consecrate myself for them, so that they may also be consecrated in truth.”

Being virtuous isn’t sane. It requires training in habitus. Monastic, ascetic aspirants should only be receiving from virgin hands consecrated clean of sin. Eucharistic hunger is Epicurean. A communicant is a dandy of the soul. Because I am a Christian I won’t lie I am integrated post Roe. Catholicity means completion, or complete. Let the Spirit breathe, let the Trinity spirate.

“How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”

Garrigou-Lagrange, St. Louis de Montfort, Dante Alighieri, and Saint Bonaventure all converged on a triplicate, vaguely threefold nonlinear pattern of redemption. Trinitarian if you will. For Bonaventure it was this metaphysical idea of exitus et reditus (going forth and return) or emanation, exemplarity, and consummation / return. The pattern persists everywhere. (Not suffering from apophenia or schizophrenia, it’s just that the revelatory is fickle.) Prefigured in Augustine, Pseudo-Dionysius, and Neoplatonic writing. Reality, the Tree of Life, the Eucharist. The Cross in the Old Testament, and the Sign of the Cross as in Ezekiel. (Christ even references directly once: “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.”) For a follower of the Way, without hedges and guardrails it’s easy to get lost. The shape of nature and its perception by humans binds to the creator’s forms. It is, roughly: from God, through God’s Wisdom/Word (the word is legible / intelligible because it bears traces of God), and back to God. It is the purgation of the senses / appetites and spiritual consolations, the illumination, and the unitive. Triadic, mystical, and affective, as well as scholastic proofs for God, all preoccupied with the idea of imitating Christ as a means of Christian perfection. Prayer isn’t transactional; to receive something. The ultimate goal is deeper union with God. It is God’s ultimate providential aim. Providence may place someone in your life. Grace enables you to love them right.

St. Louis de Montfort’s symmetrical equivalence is the four means to obtain Divine Wisdom: ardent desire, persevering prayer, universal mortification, and a true devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. All things Christ did for us. In his book The Love of Eternal Wisdom, he writes: “He sees a piece of vile and contemptible wood which is being used to humiliate and torture the most wicked and most unfortunate of men…He chooses it to be the instrument of His conquests.” And “O, how humble one must be, how little, how mortified, how interior, how despised by the world, to come to know the mystery of the Cross, which even today is an object of scandal and folly not only to the Jews and pagans, to the Turks and heretics, to the worldly-wise and bad Catholics, but even to the so-called devout, even very devout people…the Cross is spoken of more than ever, and much is written about its beauty and its excellence. In practice, however, people fear, complain, excuse themselves and shrink as soon as there is a question of suffering.”

The mystery of the Cross is the secret of the king, and in divine darkness the father is in me.

Garrigou-Lagrange illustrates that by receiving the theological virtues of baptism—faith, hope and charity, we cooperate with grace and the Holy Spirit dynamically operates within us to generate increasingly fluent charity. All are gifts from God. At the level of Christian perfection, we are capable of radical, paradoxical acts of heroic virtue continuously while in unceasing prayer with God.

Most striking is that the apostles are willing to die to the ends of the earth in their crumbling economic zone for the truth. And so they do. Imagine willing to die for something like truth, a transcendental property of being participating in or reflecting God through a transcendental relation grounded in being and intellect, God who is subsistent Being itself, not “a truth” but Truth itself in the highest sense because God is pure actuality and perfect intelligibility.

The first mass is a baby laughing or crying. Someone volunteered this idea at an Easter dinner. He was an Indian spiritualist influenced by pagan cosmologies. The Holy Spirit has done wonderful things for me. He’s brought me to the fringes of deep Catholicism, to schismatics and sedes, self-constructed religious identities in exile, and to those so earnestly committed to orthodoxy that they confuse policy with doctrine, using theologians like Thomas Aquinas as a cudgel to bludgeon those trying to do good, to the detriment of souls and uncharity, a sin against hope and therefore against God, the gravest type of sin, one that insists on being correct at the cost of wayward souls, one that refuses love, for charity is the highest virtue, and formation is a school of charity. Lean on Holy Mother Church against trad recusants. The magisterium. She is architectonic and a visible authority structure. All signs of conscience formation, or a healthy functioning conscience that is alive— one that cares whether this or that action affects souls or harms relationships, not pretextual to skirting responsibility for salvation (such as by using codependency and obedience to a spiritual director as a way to get around seeking counsel from the Holy Spirit and entrusting to grace and providence)— are deeply caring and sharply revealed. Alphonsians, Scotists, Bonaventurians, Augustinians and Thomists should all care. It is not all orthodox tradition and intellectually rigorous disputation, but ad hoc philosophy of embodiment and pastoral responsibility / care for souls. Without existential ballast, the universal call to holiness and living a good Christian life— be it as a catechist or consecrated laity (canonicity notwithstanding) oriented toward sanctification through a charism, a rule of life, promises / commitments, participation in spirituality / mission, structured prayer/study, and formal incorporation into a spiritual family— seems to me as straw.

Jacques Philippe writes in Interior Freedom: “What the law tells us to do is good. But taking law as the foundation for our relationship with God contradicts the truth that salvation is given freely and ends up killing love. It can lead to pride. We may think we can fulfill all that the law prescribes, consider ourselves righteous, and despise other people for not doing the same…It is certain that people who start by priding themselves on their spiritual “successes” will fall into despair sooner or later.”

I thirst for souls, I love souls, I am invested in souls, in their shepherding. At the same dinner, a Greek Catholic priest talked about the liturgically faulty ecclesiology of versus populum, the ordinary form sanctioned by the divisive Second Vatican Council otherwise known as Vatican II. He said the world should be close to the church, not the other way around (ad orientem: all face the coming Christ in the East). Many think they should have kept the same mass and simply incorporated the vernacular languages. I asked him what his favorite Bible translation was and he looked at me a bit mystified, said simply “Septuagint.” Whether Church Slavonic or Sacrosanctum Concilium as members of the communio sanctorum, give me sacraments and scripture not drugs.

Liturgical style at variance with valences, the question of liturgical abuses rampant, of primacy is that the holy sacrifice of the mass be celebrated with passion, deep reverence, and spiritual intensity. Padre Pio wept. It’s very Christ-like to weep. Dominic wept for sinners, Holy Father. Saints weep. At the source and the summit, the sacrament of sacraments, Eucharistic Revival and renewed belief in the real presence, only aggressively incarnational conduct and heightened emotions are appropriate. No one who has God can be lonely. God takes all but God and fervor for Him.

The mass should be understood as a synthesis of the Last Supper and the Passion. At every single one, multiple times each day, heaven kisses earth, the kingdom not of this world, faith deepening with the arc of history bending vertically across dimensions. Don’t be lukewarm about it. Don’t put anything before God offering you his only son’s body to eat, through his holy priests who are the only ones ordained to act on his behalf in this way. Pursue God with me. Spend all your life at the altar. Decline party invitations. It all leads back to the void. This never ends. “Do this in memory of me,” say the holy priests. In culture time not clock time. Legions. Weep with joy at mass. The altar call is intensifying. Every particle of the Eucharist into the mouths of lambs starving for meaning, prayer, order, truth, and transcendence, striving for purpose and willing to die for the truth. The Blessed Sacrament is powerful, free, perpetually available, better than any rock concert. Anywhere in the world Christ is present, intimate. In silent contemplation and oceanic reverie, in triplicity of immanent Trinity, (“It is because man is fundamentally spirit—open to the absolute of the Divine—that he is always dissatisfied, in one manner or another, with all created reality. Nature is not divine. It is only a sign of God, a cry toward God.” – Catherine de Hueck Doherty) Please come and see and bask in uncreated light with your fellow remnant aflame in the desert which is always echoing. Don’t attach to food or drink or drugs or alcohol. Don’t put anything before the Lord. Curiositas is a vice. Curiosa can be sinful. Reality is undefeated.

New York City is a feat of engineering. The nonplus I feel bouncing around parochial life here reminds me there is so much work to be done in all strata here for the people of God.

There was the leftcath orthobro on the train who decried the veneration of the Romanovs and the Russification of the church. “Put not your trust in princes.” He thought the pope spoke for God and wished his patriarch would. There was the self-consecrated hermit who sold me rare books. There was the Maronite corporate sponsor of studied incuriosity who thought Marxist third worldist globohomo had infiltrated the Vatican.

There’s a severe spiritual testing that accompanies wealth, and also the perils of self-sanctification / private sanctification, individualism that bedevils the brethren. Being virtuous is not sane. But I want people to be saved. I have seen the effects of sin on the world. Not to be unbecoming, but I’ve experienced evil. I don’t know that I’ve been granted special graces to resist, but I know I am witness, and it strikes me as incumbent to be candid about my experiences interior and exterior, without being explicit enough to convict souls. Using prudence and discretion. Because the truth is truly alive and horrific, stranger than fiction. Spectacle is spiritually dangerous and deformity deserves dormition. Recourse is in fragmentation, gesturing rather than exhaustively rendering. In emotional and spiritual truths rather than symbolic material.

“On the day of the last judgment He will bring to an end all the relics of the Saints, even the most worthy of respect, but as for those of His Cross He will command the chief Seraphim and Cherubim to gather up throughout the whole world all the particles of the true Cross, and they will be so well reunited by his loving omnipotence that they will form but one Cross, the very Cross upon which He died.” – St. Louis de Montfort, The Love of Eternal Wisdom

God provides, subsidizes, tolerates a lot. It’s not a five loaves, two fish situation anymore. A man of God is a man of sorrows. I wish I had been studying the blade instead of getting laid but it’s never too late to be a late conversion / reversion on God’s timing. Participation in intimate divine love, belief and assurance you are loved is the foundation of community. God wants me to be poor and struggling and I rejoice while you complain. There’s a frigidity crisis of choosing, an incessance of avoidance to the endpoint of dishonor. An abrogation or derogation, a listlessness. Holy penitents need to address the post traumatized relational interpersonal strain. History arcing a pernicious listlessness awash in baleful cruelty and sadism and athirst for social thought. Prayer sanctifies our witness. Gather them.

Love goes further than knowledge in this life. A love that is a knowing. Where knowing can’t go, love goes. Wisdom builds on charity. Die into love. Encounter with the living God is deeper in luminous darkness. In threes we proceed to pour ourselves out in fontal plenitude. The sanctity of human life and the dignity of the human person, their marriages and families and their beings in superabundance, Imago Dei. There’s a difference between ownership and participation. While Jesus was poor, he went out of himself to take up his Cross. To lead back all roads to the final cause in Him. Self-annihilating kenosis. A failure of articulation. Full contentment. Affective dimensions unknown to most lovers. If we take up our crosses daily and lift our minds and hearts to God He comes after us with mad drunken love, if you feel called, if you thirst. Elevated to the divine and infinite self-giving Agape but also Eros and ekstasis, supernatural day of the marriage, spotless bride formed from your side, Calvary incarnate in fidelity abide. It is the divine Triune paradox. The Tree of Life in the mystical mind. The vine, leaves, medicine, fruit; reified. Eschatological witness. The contemplative ascent to heavenly New Jerusalem. Rise to the height of the heart garden of light gather the flowers of my wounds the mysteries of my life enter into the side of the Most High water grace of tears kiss of peace strayed sheep set me as a seal on the motion of your heart deed of hands coequal day by day better anointed immanent furnace of faith needed barren holy canticle my soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord make me perfect virginal birth tickled shepherds washing the feet of fishermen seek more in God’s grace than in doctrine longing of the will intense fervor the fire is God fire of love weep for the damage done. The soul is drawn out to stand outside itself for divine love. Divine freedom is the ability to choose good. Most sin isn’t malice but an attempt to do this without God.

The flesh does nothing for me anymore. It is all empty show and spiritless corpses breathless with mortal spew and dysgenic as the bones and sinew in Ezekiel’s plain. I am cured of lustful arousal and in its absence tenderness compassion and unfulfilled desire for loving spousal companionship reigns in my heart, knowledge the spirit will bear me through all things. Through the spiritually exhausting pure submission and devouring control of yogically flexible and sterile demonic counterfeits of intimacy, alienated and emotionally vacant anti-nuptial Eros, destructively inverted Lilithian tenderness severed from transcendence, alienated and emotionally vacant conspicuously lacking embrace, dissociated asymmetrical. By God’s grace alone I survived the unease and desolation of the aftermath.

The spirit of Kundalini lives in the spine, each pose a deity’s form.

Our separated brethren in imperfect communion.

Before my failed engagement I was obsessed with a woman I was never intimate with. This is my unique witness to be reconciled with creation, the reconstitution of the human person after the Fall, healing the individual back into communion with creation. And magnificent humanity attests to the luminous. To keep living and loving no matter what, if only to be prepared and properly disposed for death.

I need a woman who draws me closer to God, mutual movement toward covenant for the kingdom in Christ. All will come to light trembling in Christ and only in Christ. Vengeance belongs to him, and I let my anger be his. This is the quieting of the heart in recollection, the way of perfection. Here is the bondage of the will, the restlessness of voluptuousness, the misery and intoxication of disordered desire.

This is free dissociation; potentiation; dissertation, labile remorse voltaic sprezzatura. A maddening, a gladdening.

The last time I fell and I can’t unsee the falseness of it, the vexation of having my will divided.

All I see is trapped humanity. Emotional chastity is a thing.

Even contemplative withdrawal is for charity and for the kingdom.

Sarcopenia, literally poverty of flesh. Perfusion and cachexis.

To live divine life you must love. A post literate, post Christian world is at stake. Lapsarian, the devil attacked the family. A destructive feelings-based economy. Don’t suffer from pride. I pray but they still fall. The devil attacks me with lust, which enters the soul through the eyes. Spiritual attacks come in dreams like Teresa of Ávila says and should be brought to a confessor promptly.

Why do you think I sleep with five blessed sacramentals around my neck, keep holy water everywhere, go to mass daily, confess weekly, keep a stable prayer life? Do you think it was easy to stop having boners?

I choose hierarchy and authority over vainglory. Sacrifice and salvation over self. Servants of the common good, stewards of your mystery, found faithful. Dignity ought to be intrinsic to the lay state.

Metanoia and conversion of the heart are totalizing. They cut deep with ardor. Deep conversion is situational. Formation is dispositional and its fruits unconditional.

I cannot unsee the falseness of love that isn’t divine, as integrated as my humanist secular life may be with my spiritual life. Where once we had dominion, we are now governed. If there’s anything we can do right in this life it’s love one another.

Catholics don’t presume we are saved like Protestants do. We consider it a grace. We don’t take salvation for granted. The enemies of the church would have you take justification for granted. What you have is a state of grace. You must persevere in edification. The problem of free will is a teleological one clothed in philosophy and in theology, the serpent in the garden of Eden was always there. False love is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Romance hinges on plausible deniability. Flirtation values intuition over truth, trespass over sober clarity.

You can spend long nights agonizing over the ways of God to have an anecdote resolve it instantly.

William Barclay writes in his New Daily Study Bible on the Acts of the Apostles: “The apostles were told to wait for the coming of the Spirit. We would gain more courage and power and peace if we learned to wait. In the business of life, we need to learn to be still…Amid life’s surging activity, there must be time to receive.”

I don’t know what the hardest line in the Bible is. I don’t know whether Teresa of Ávila or Thérèse of Lisieux wrote the haunted mansion. I no longer have any taste for / interest in worldly vain ambition, lurid riches, earthly glories and status conferred by unclean hands. Cheap thrills and escapes when there are banquets in our midst. They’re going nowhere while we are on our way to where we’re going. I give alms to cultivate detachment. The poor will always be with you, your masters. Welcome home. I labor and pray. If you wage spiritual war on Israel, the mystical body of Christ, you have already fallen to perfect love sustained by Holy Mother to the foot of the Cross. No one can hurt you except with your assent. Stacking Merit, whoever loved more deeply signs of contradiction and the kingdom, lights for Gentiles. Out of mid morning surplus of the heart, I sing lauds. I gnaw and nibble the Eucharist, doubling down on literalism and absolutizing to collapse your disingenuous relativism. Ordering your learning so you don’t become too learned and smug. Universalizing across denominational mainlines. Inflamed by holy, heavenly desires may our minds be made pure, festivity of unending splendor. Startlingly authentic to take something so seriously enough to make a commitment to abstain from communion in fallen states, sitting at the back of the church, refraining from spiritual danger. Converted to love the hidden life. Grace destroyed and inutile but persevering in faith and orientation toward the Eternal Godhead.

Pax, residue of this inheritance, dear elect, the Great Commission, the daughters of vice are the problem. Preserver of life walk into the water now.

“But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.”

I get scandalized, I get convicted. Hound of heaven, mad dog of love, I don’t cavort with schismatics. Reenchant the faith in Pentecostal red on Whitsunday. Liturgical colors.

“Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven?”

I have been a burden in my flânerie.

This emotionally chaste strange sober life. Been buried in the weeds of deep discernment.

Prayer is where we meet God on his level and cooperate with grace for our spiritual good to enact his will for our sanctification according to his plans. I don’t have the gift of prophecy, but of hope.

“We knelt down on the shore and prayed and bade each other farewell.”
