SHORT PRAYER FOR WHEN I HAVE TO PAY BILLS

if i had infinite money i would burn
it for warmth
i would invite everyone
else over to stand close by
and be warm too
i would throw them
into my homemade neutralizer
machine and use the sand to build
beaches and i would
charge five dollars just to see the ocean
i would declare war
on the sun
i would throw everything i have
at the body because it can always see
the ocean and it can always
burn itself up

 
SHORT PRAYER FOR WHEN TRAFFIC JAMS UP

if i was a bomb i would hold myself so tightly i would never
fall i would stand in the supermarket and make the rivers
move around me i would wonder if
i was god the way men tremble
i would never have meetings
i would pay for long
distance calls to my mother
i would tell her i had a beautiful
day i would float and never come
down

 
SHORT PRAYER FOR SLEEPING

they make words for feelings
no one has had because there are three emotions:
emotions for dying and eating and
fucking emotions for being
thrown violently
into the pit
