Tissue Wasteland – Lily Arnell

YELLOW BELLIED SAP SUCKERS
Sometimes I like
To find a flat rock
An outcropping in a park
Or nature preserve
And feel for some time
Like the shape of me
Can sit comfortably
On a firm portion of earth
SOME NOTES ON MY BODY
It’s not lost on me
That my right breast is
Significantly larger than my left
However, it is rare I consider
This imbalance could be
A not insignificant
Contributor to my hip pain
There is a percentage of my back
I call Tissue Wasteland
I don’t know what goes on there
But it seems critical
That I regard it gently
Somewhat like a frequency I can zone into
Through which I can hear
My network swelling and tendons squeaking
